How it all started…
1st January 2004 was a crucial day in the history of High Definition (HD) in Europe. The increasing demand to experience high-quality entertainment could no longer be ignored and led to the launch of Euro1080.
Euro1080 was initiated, co-ordinated and promoted by Alfacam, a Belgium based company providing TV facilities and services to broadcasters and production houses all over the world. Alfacam’s television trucks travel all over Europe and beyond, recording major events. At present, Alfacam has a fleet of 26 trucks of which 16 operate in HD.
Euro1080 was launched in 2004 as the very first High Definition Television Company in Europe. Euro1080 broadcasts high quality programmes exclusively in High Definition across a wide range of High Definition Channels - HD1, HD2, HD3, HD5, EXQI Culture and EXQI Sport.
HD1 is the Sports channel, HD3 is the Culture channel.
EXQI Sport and EXQI Culture are distributed in Belgium by local operators.
Euro1080 also broadcasts specific events in HD to dedicated audiences such as digital cinemas and large venues (HD2 and HD5).
